savescumming breaks record saving? [NOTABUG]
« on: August 09, 2007, 19:16 »

as pointed out in http://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php?topic=1048.0, i think savescumming breaks record saving. i killed cyberdemon after a game full of savescumming. my high scores were saved, but the partial win and the cyberdemon kill aren't listed on my player data. even then, my latest mortem data is missing at least 5 player deaths from the cyberdemon-kill mortem data. there has got to be something wrong here.

Bugs due to savescumming will not be considered bugs :P

It's like posting -- "I hacked the savefile to give me 300% life, and it crashes on startup! Please fix it!" :P

Dont bother, Kornel will only aknowledge a bug if you provide him a video of that game session, debugging log, full registry of your OS, and God knows what else. His policy is : "i never had this happening to me - therefore its not my problem."

I dunno, he was pretty forthright with me and noted my log.  The response wasn't instant, but I wasn't expecting it to be.

Hey, Kornel have fixed all bugs that we have reported. Sometimes he not fixes bugs if they only happens on computer of one user, because if nobody else experience this bug, then it's not global problem in code. But it's not the point of this topic, anyway.))

I don't remember that Kornel has written any protection from savescumming in DooMRL, so game do not see any difference between savescummed game and honest game that was done with one save. So this bug can happen to any player that uses saves. I don't save often, i prefer to play it on one breath from begin to the end(soon death, or glorious victory)), so i can't tell that i had experienced that bug. But maybe anyone else experienced it?
