I turned on 'running' and headed for the lower left are for some cover (with relatively poor shape).  Wasn't lucky and the exit wasn't in that direction.  Switched to plasma and managed to take out half of them as they chased me/took shots at me, losing half my hp and almost all my armor.  Ran out of power cells and died firing away with my chaingun as the remainder closed in on me.
