That wouldn't take too many turns to happen. Same thing almost happened to me in a pain elemental cave in my current game.

I had one similar today, trying to get a YAAM AoMr - and one cacodemon somehow slipped to the left, where the lava flow started.
Well ... "You suddenly feel the need to run!" quickly changes to "You suddenly feel the need to LOL!" with those nice Enviroboots worn.
