What is with you people posting "screenshots" of levels above 1 and weapons other than the pistol, MP5, magnum, and shotgun? You're obviously lying. Come on now. Own up.

That's a joke, but for serious AliensRL is too hard. How are you people doing this? I can wander around the whole damn complex forever and ever and ever until I either just get bored to death or my ammo runs out, but I have never seen a lift anywhere. What's the deal?

Update: The problem was that I thought the lifts were pools of water. -_-

Am I glad that I'm not the only one who fell for that ;D

Sounds like a RTFM problem to me ;)

Yeah, I know -- but do you have any sensible alternative? -_-

007bistromath · « **Reply #5 on:** September 26, 2007, 00:56 »

What's wrong with the old standbys > and <? I mean, I haven't played that far, so I guess there's a good reason, but I don't know it.

Would look wierd IMHO -_-

Well, I thought it was pretty strange to make them more than one tile. The fact that they are is why I assumed there was a reason they don't look like regular old stairs.

What about

Code: [Select]

and

Code: [Select]

Just an idea :D
And i still miss the newest beta for linux :P

Kornel Kisielewicz · « **Reply #9 on:** September 26, 2007, 01:21 »

Sathariel, that would still suggest that only the middle tile is the "stairs".

SaThaRiel · « **Reply #10 on:** September 26, 2007, 01:25 »

Just write in the manual that the whole thing is the elevator...if someone thinks he can only go up/down on the middle tile its his problem ;) Actually i always go on the middle tile before going up/down - dont know why...

'Cuz it makes sense. :p

Cyber Killer · « **Reply #12 on:** January 15, 2008, 07:14 »

Hey, how come I always run out of ammo? I mean, there are just too many aliens around with too little ammo pickups :-(. The end is always the same: whatever tower, level 1, 10 medpacks, no ammo for the weapons I have (usually the basic ones) and 1-2 aliens shredding me to bits, while I just stand there cause there really isn't any point running away ;-P.

Any tips how to avoid this?

Kornel Kisielewicz · « **Reply #13 on:** January 15, 2008, 07:23 »

*Don't* try to kill them all! You don't have anough ammo for that. Focus on the goal, ignore the rest. Get the guns, kill the queen and get the hell out of there!

Cyber Killer · « **Reply #14 on:** January 15, 2008, 14:44 »

Thx for the tip, I'll try this out... What are the other towers for if all you need is to go to the main tower top? (Sorry for my ignorance, but I didn't find the info anywhere.)

Kornel Kisielewicz · « **Reply #15 on:** January 15, 2008, 15:09 »

Example reasonings (all true)
-- main tower is more dangerous than the others (except military)
-- medical tower is usefull for stocking up medkits
-- storage tower is usefull for stocking up ammo
-- only military tower has the big guns and big armor
etc...

Rola · « **Reply #16 on:** January 15, 2008, 15:59 »

Storage has more ammo. Military has more high-end weapons and so on...

Cyber Killer · « **Reply #17 on:** January 16, 2008, 01:36 »

oh... now it's starting to make sense ;-).

Kornel Kisielewicz · « **Reply #18 on:** January 16, 2008, 02:15 »

Yeah in this way it is quite different from other Roguelikes -- what I really like :)

Tresor · « **Reply #19 on:** February 06, 2008, 11:57 »

I'm slowly starting to learn how to play this game, but it's still far too hard for me. I could use an 'easy' level:P

bleak · « **Reply #20 on:** February 09, 2008, 15:46 »

I kinda like just ignoring the civilian tower since it doesn't seem to serve any gameplay purpose, (at least, none that I know of) then again, I've only ever made it up to the 4th level of the towers...
