[newbie] Where's a good FAQ?
« on: December 15, 2007, 12:45 »

I'm looking for some information that doesn't seem to be in the wiki.  Things like known lever effects, details on what weapon mods do, (how to use them), how the ranks work and how to gain them, etc.  You know, the stuff an average new player would ask.

Things like known lever effects

here (possible to miss, that part of info wasn't ever updated for new versions)

Use forum search function - there are probably several topics on that...

Not in the wiki, huh?

I'm really bad at searching wikis.

I put in "rank" - http://doom.chaosforge.org/wiki/index.php?search=rank&go=Go

Thanks, though.

(looking in search and I still am baffled by how to apply a weapon mod.)

Well the page is linked at the front page so you didn't need to search

Open 'i'nventory and press the letter that the mod is under - this will aply it to currently held weapon.

It keeps saying "You need to hold an advanced weapon for the mod to be applied," but I'm holding an extended combat shotgun I found.  It was gold on the floor, so that means it's advanced, right?

Nope, you need "advanced <weapon name>" to apply mods. You can also apply single mod to normal, non advanced/rapid/whatever weapons but not sure is that in current stable or in betas only.

Oh. I haven't seen an "advanced" weapon yet, only extended.  Thanks.
