Question about Rogue

I am terribily sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I have a simple/stupid/n00b question about the classic Rogue:
How do I shoot arrows with a bow?

Potman:
I reckon you just wield the bow and throw them arrows. The + button was "Throw", if I remember correctly.

But I'ven't played rogue for six years now - and even then I only tried it a bit before moving to Nethack and never looking back.

Yeah I always do that too, but I'm not sure if it's the right way.
