As we have reply button/quote too. I did it purposely because I like it that way, this time. Took almost as much space as if it was in one. So, what's so bad about double post that makes the fact worth to mention ?
--- Quote ---Second, Kornel already stated his distaste for this suggestion. Can we drop it now?
--- End quote ---
And that's exactly something I'd like to straighten up. Is it up to community also or to Kornel alone?
--- Quote ---Third: Comparing Mona Lisa porn to DoomRL in full ASCII with a background colour apart from black...Just don't.
--- End quote ---
Are you saying this to me, or to Kornel ?
--- Quote ---Why yes, I do find it pointless. It offers nothing for the gameplay, takes up valuable development time and once again, what the hell is the point? The tiles we have right now work PERFECTLY. There is no reason to have my marine looking like ? or having ? for walls and ? for stairs. Hell, we don't need B shaped Barons when we have the almighty ? that will blow up barrels shaped like ?.
--- End quote ---
Again, You find it pointless. If there are people asking for it then it is obvious it is not pointless to them, is it ? If you have no reason for tiles to look different then it is perfectly alright. However you don't think that only your way matters, do you ? And if changing tiles would be optional, to whomever like it, then it wouldn't affect you in any way, would it? And you wouldn't have to change anything, yes ? So, what is the point you discuss here except to prevent something that completely doesn't matter to you?

Yeah, maybe that was a tasteless comparison, but I wanted to point out a thing called "artistical integrity" vs. "add everything and the kitchen sink too".
Daqin:
Well, since we speak of artistic integrity and stuff, think of that if such thing was definable, players would be able to present their themes on forum, and maybe there would be some interesting alternatives to be found, as it is with other things (items, ideas etc).
Anticheese:
My kingdom for a banhammer...
First off: Double posts within a minute of each other is just plain lazy. All you need to do is add a line of dashes, type edit:/Edit:/EDIT: (take your pick) and proceed from there..
The thing about the porn version was to both of you.
Lastly, does it really offer that much of an improvement? The most I can see happening is perhaps the walls changing to the double lines . Post a fake screeny of what you imagine it to be like.
Cyber Killer:
@Daquin: if DoomRl would be OpenSource then You could take it and add a much characters as you want, as for now it's more like if you like it the way it is then play it, if not, then don't. I don't see the pont in arguing over this matter.
