Kornel, you did this to me!
« on: February 21, 2008, 16:33 »

How dare you make such a wonderful game!  Filled with action and adventure, consuming my day with shotgun shells and charging demons?  What gives you the right to make such an entertaining roguelike game?  I hope you are happy with yourself.

A warning to all of you, stay away from this game.  All you'll find here is a good time.

(Nice first post, huh?  Keep up the great work!)

Let's start a class action lawsuit!

DoomRL is balanced so perfectly.

Rather than being a set of game mechanics, there is an actual world put together with rules that can be exploited.

I really admire that.

Here is a mission and I don't care how you do it, but this is a list of things that you can do to manipulate this world to get you there.

I haven't played it for a while, but it consumes me once more.

Edit:

I think it is one of the very few games where although I try to get to the end, I am enjoying the journey more than the thought I might actually beat it one day.

Useless shotguns ?
Being able to miss 6 times in a row at point-blank range, whereas sergeants always hit ?
Dying on level 2 because you just "happen" to appear in the middle of lost souls pack ?

Doesnt seem that balanced to me. Not yet, anyway.

That lost souls thing should definalty be fixed. Remember that screenshot of mine where I was spawned in a 4x5 room, with 5 lost souls and 5 former humans? =P

You are complaining that shotguns are "useless" and then complaining that shotguns, carried by sergeants (and permitting them to always hit), are too good?

There's a difference between balance and coddling the player.
