This has been discussed before -- there is no guaranteed good way to make a turnbased game real-time :-(

just make turns in a determined seconds. Or better, simultaneous turns. :)

Believe me it's not as simple as it sounds. At least not simple if you want to maintain a degree of dynamicy.

I can imagine..

It would be a nightmare (no I am not refering to difficulty mode) to have it working on anything else apart from LAN connections..

Even a small .3 second delay could make playing DoomRL a pain in the ass online..

Mmm, actually, Titans of Steel does time based turns well...

Maybe you could look into that?
