Angel of Cybie OR Angel of Fleeing
« on: April 25, 2008, 10:29 »

Difficulty: HARD

In every level, the Cyberdemon will be hunting for you, and he is indestructible! Which means, you have to run away from him except in the final level, of course.

PROS:
  • You run faster.
  • He doesn't spawn in special levels.
  • He doesn't spawn in the same area of the level exit.

CONS:
  • He spawns in every normal level.
  • He can't die.

Eh, make it like those old arcade games: if you don't leave the level within 100 moves (or something) he spawns and yells something threatening and starts coming after you. :)

That would be a combination between Angel of Red Alert and Angel of Cybie =)

Angel of Sinistar.

Named creature is dormant on each level for N turns, eventually comes alive and starts shouting things like "BEWARE, I HUNGER" and "RUN! RUN! RUN!". :D

Would probably work better with a spidie, though.

Angel of Now See What You've Gone And Done.

Each level has a sleeping Cyberdeamon in it.  Gunshots and explosions close enough to it will wake it up, causing it to drink some coffee from a thermos, and go on a rampage.

I have my own Challenge related to Cyb-kun.

-ANGEL OF PANIC:

You are mortally afraid of the big bad C, and he likes to take that to his advantage, by doing some mischievous things every once in a while...

1) When you're on the level, he may make his voice heard, which scares you, making you weaker, and encourages his demon brethren, making them stronger. Thankfully, when possesed by panic, you can run faster.

2) Every once in a while, you hear thunderous mechanical steps similar to those Cyb-kun does when he walks. This makes you drop your current weapon in fear, which can turn REALLY nasty if you are being attacked by many, strong enemies.

3) The third thing he can do is SPAWN IN THE LEVEL YOU ARE after you destroy all the monsters in it, and he's invincible when he does so, mainly because you're so full of fear, you can't even aim at him, and obviously you can't shoot him. You can't take any items on the ground, either, as you can only think on running away. AND there's a chance you drop your weapon. ("You feel relatively safe... But what the... Run, marine, RUN!") Thankfully, you run A HELL LOT FASTER when he spawns.

But don't worry, I haven't abandoned you. As Cyb-kun feels that you being afraid of him will make you a lot easier opponent than the other marines that have dived into the base before you, he has deployed less monsters on each level, making you life theoretically easy. Until one of the three aforementioned things happens, at least.

Hah, I might add it to the next challenge poll. However, this is a mod I see fairly easily to implement with the API.

BTW, Sachiko, it's Cyb-chan, not Cyb-kun :P

Lol, why are you looking for sooooo complicated challenges ?

To be funny, the main idea of a challenge must be simple.
No existing challenge requires more than a few words to be fully understood.

The main idea of this new challenge would be to have the cyberdemon spawn earlier than in level 25.

There are three simple ways of making it :
- Make him able to spawn in ordinary levels like an ordinary monster (there could be a chance that he spawns multiple times in the same level !), eventually with a message to warn the player.
- Make him spawn when you clear the level.
- Make a new special level (not a challenge) where you meet a weaker version of him.

I have to admit that I don't see the point of making him invincible (isn't he strong enough ?) except if you want to respect the fact that he is theoretically unique.

And plus, it can only be unlocked when you did a full win at least once, because of You-Know-Who...
Oh and Angel of Death should also be involved, though you can attack him with ranged weapons.

Angel of Not an Angel: no different from normal play, but you get to append that ridiculous prefix to all your games.
