"Upgrading" to newer version of DoomRL?

I've been playing v0.9.8.9 for a little while and now I just downloaded 0.9.8.10. Can I just take the two files doomrl.exe and doomrl.wad from the new version and overwrite the old version? I don't want to put the newest version on a seperate folder and lost all my stats.

Take doomrl.wad, doomrl.exe, "wav" folder, and check all .ini's, if there was something changed. Should work.)

Titt:
You have to move version.txt over too if you want the correct (updated) version number to be displayed in-game.
