Refuses to run on Ubuntu 8.04 AMD64

Trying to run the main DoomRL executable give me this error message:


--- Code: ---/home/USERNAME/doomrl-linux-09810/doomrl: error while loading shared libraries: libsmpeg-0.4.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

--- End code ---

This still occurs after using Synaptic Package manager to download libsmpeg.

Trying any of the other shell scripts results in the same error message:

--- Code: ---USERNAME@USERNAME-desktop:~/doomrl-linux-09810$ sh doomrl_xterm
set: 2: Illegal option -

--- End code ---

I admit to being fairly new to Linux, so I'm probably forgetting something obvious.

I had the same problem but then I found the Windows version ran without problem under WINE. Just install it through synaptic, then `wineconsole doomrl.exe` at the terminal.

There are a few little glitches (light and dark grey chars are swapped, and screen effects like level changes aren't as smooth) but apart from that it works perfectly.
