Getting into Roguelike Development

Hi, I would like to get into Roguelike Development...


Could people here please post helpful compilers, tutorials and similar?

Make sure to have clar ideas first, then bounds to your project and do a bit of design, then roguelikedevelopment.org and rgrd, then you can think on actual implementation.

P.S Forgot to tell, first make a humble 7DRL, then you can proceed in your quest to dethrone ADOM!! :p

Yep! I am planning on a remake of System Shock 1..In Roguelike format.

Actually I ripped the Composate View suggestion from my design book..

That look interesting, but pretty like a big scope project... trust me, you want to start with something smaller, a game you can just dismiss without tears in your eyes once you learned enough from it ;)

Hey, I know there were topics, threads and replies like this earlier, but still... I've looked on the other Roguelike games that were listed on some topic, tried them all. And none of them was so playable and joyful like DoomRL! ;D This game is really exceptional! I've heard that Kornel is about to release the Carceri Engine to give some maniacs without programming skills an opportunity to make games like DoomRL. How long we are going to wait for this? I can't wait till i get my hands on it, after those things I've seen in DoomRL... Just think of it, I alone could make some really fun games like StarcraftRL, WarcraftRL, X-ComRL, DiabloRL, blah blah blah, endless potential! Kornel, when will it be released? I'm way too hot for it! :D
