Resting/healing

In the manual, I read that pressing 'R' rests for 50 turns or until completely healed. This key does something else completely though. Now, I'm wondering how to rest, or was that feature taken out because it made the game too easy? If resting is impossible, there are rather few medpacks lying around, aren't there?

Not really, most of the time they are taken and used by monsters. (it got to be the thing I hate the most about that game)

I dont know about that "resting/healing" thing, never noticed that.

Kornel took it out brcause it was boring and ruined the pacing of the game, and I agree.

Yup, but it's also a matter of luck sometimes, especially with the medipacks (where they get generated in the level and where you start). Allthough if you're very carefull you need only a couple to finish the game

Yes, however, you can get a bad start because on the first level, the Former Humans can steal all 4 medpacks :% Really gets on my nerves

Yeah, me too, can completely change the first levels - sometime I finish the level with 100%, 4 medpack, sometime I finish with lower 75% and no medpack, simply because they took them. Annoying.

When they take all the medpacks, it makes my character do a lot worse in the first few levels, and i usually die..

well, from what I have seen, if you are quick enough you can always grab the 4 medipacks ... am I wrong? (last 10 games have been like that)

Actually, i always take the absolutely quickest path to the medpacks, and they are gone sometimes....seems entirely random :)

Actually, Former humans can and WILL take any medkit near them.

That means that should a FH in the first level can open the doors, Take the medkits, Mill around while waiting and when you shoot them, Use the medkit.

There is nothing random about it. Only A.I More evil than the original DOOM.

ok, i'm gonna spill a little secret for all of you who have problems with former humans on the 1st level getting your medpacks:

use coward tactics
walk up to the (suspected) medpacks thief
hit him with your fists
once you have landed 1 hit, change to agressive tactics and kill him.

about 75% of the time, you will be able to kill the former human without him using a medpack.

now nobody ever dare to whine about them thieving former humans again, i think they're just misunderstood!

p.s.: there is also a method of killing the thief with the pistol, if you time it right, without any use of medpacks by said thief.
