Cheater's YAVP
« on: March 12, 2006, 16:09 »

Hi guys, I'm Rola - this is my first post here. I'd like to post my mortem dump to honor the game creator - a way to say "thank you Kornel, I really enjoy your game!".

But I also want to be frank - I used one cheat to complete the game: I backup my savegames... sorry, but ever since the arcade shooters days I try not to play games which don't allow me to backtrace my game - ya know, too much stress caused by loosing your well developed character ;)

My previous character in DoomRL almost got the Cybie - I managed to get him "mortally wounded", but no matter what strategy I used, he was winning... now I nailed (BFG'ed to death) the SOB! :D

This time no cheating ;)
Once again: big thanks to Kornel, even thought this is only a pre-release editon I had a lot of fun with it (even when compared with original it still rocks!). Let's hope you'll find the time to finish it someday... someday... ;)

Thanks ;)

As I said, I didn't expect applause or whatever - I posted it here only to show Kornel that yet another maniac plays and enjoys his baby - even if it means some harmless cheating ;)

I may not be a programmer, yet I have a project of my own (from a different gaming genre) - and I know very well that we all crave for the "you rock, man!" posts, which mobilize us for further work (*cough* DiabloRL *cough* ;) ).

Well, I got two DiabloRL support e-mails today. Recently there's been a new wave of DiabloRL interest... so who knows. Temporary, I might add a DiabloRL subforum here on the DoomRL forum if there would be enough interest.

You guys have no idea how easy it is to get the "You rock man!" comments when you make games during your lunch times at school...

Well done on your victory posts!

Flight simulators. World War 2 - and before. Military aircraft - but civilian too.
Sadly I don't have the $$$ nor manpower to make my own engine/game (and I'll bet you can imagine e.g. how much UBISOFT wanted for Sturmovik's engine, LOL), especially with the situation of software market in our country (e.g. where is Mirage Interactive now?), so I just "hooked up" with a popular sim by sticking to make only "add-on" content. Believe me, even with "only that" I have plenty of "fun" - since I also coordinate research etc.
I'd invite you to my website, but we're moving and it's offline right now. Plz w8. ;)

About DiabloRL: I recently re-installed original Diablo to compare it with your game. Believe me or not, but I found your RL more enjoyable! One of the reasons for this is because now long walking times in D1 are driving me nuts (teleports don't help as much as you would like them to), while your keyboard driven interface makes the proces of returning to the town or merely walking between shops much faster. And turn based mode allows using the health potion less frantically ;)
I can only dream to get someday a full-featured DiabloRL... perhaps also with sound effects, like DoomRL got? ;) </brown_noser_mode>

I finally played Diablo RL, I agree with him on the speed, I can hardly bear original Diablo without the Hellfire expansion (ohhhh town run) I couldn't figure out how to sell things in Diablo RL though, which bugged me :P
