Mm, I've got some programming experience... mostly in QBasic (lol) and perl. I might be interested in a lower-level programming job if there's still some free. I'll need to learn somehow, after all.

Umh, i'm a newbie programmer, 1st year at uni, got some experience in python and C. Not too much experience on C++ but I can learn syntax in decent time i think.

I'm using ubuntu altho I'm not too experienced in command line either, only know some quite basic stuff. That being said I have much freetime and I'd be glad to help and learn in the same time so if I can help test or fix a few things, just let me know.

FreePascal-aware Linux Programmer

Skills needed
  • good knowledge of Linux *1
  • basic knowledge of FreePascal1 *2
  • good knowledge of proper Linux application behaviour/packaging

Responsible for
  • keeping Valkyrie Linux-happy *3
  • fixing Linux-related bugs *4
  • helping with designing a proper application deployment for the roguelikes *5
  • packaging Linux releases *6

Difficulty : medium
Responsibility : low
Time investment : low
*1: I'm learning how the shell works, so I think I qualify here (or at least in a couple of weeks :P ).
*2: I don't know why Pascal isn't free, but I'll try to learn it. Don't expect miracles, though, because I do not have a wish-granting demon in a beer bottle (:P). I'm fairly competent at Python, but besides the fact that they're both programming languages, that doesn't really matter.
*3: Da wat?
*4: There's bugs in the Linux binaries - oh, for betas and stuff. *phew*
*5: hugada... hiji... WHAAAAAT? Too much marketing-speech! D:
*6: Packaging them in tar.bz2 files, or deb/rpm files?

What do you mean by Pascal not being free?
Also, if you ever need any pointers, feel free to drop me a PM, a letter or a Skype\ICQ request :).

*drops a Q* Where's my hex pointer? :P
Also, I assume that since FreePascal has the 'Free' part in its name, apparently Pascal (isn't/wasn't/will possibly stop being) free. I don't know, and who cares?
I don't use Skype or ICQ (I don't know what this ICQ thing is anyway), by the way, because I prefer the well-established methods of communication, like IRC and throwing stones with messages on them really hard and hoping it ends up on the other guy's lawn. Also I prefer CLI's. The only reason I use Firefox instead of Lynx is because I simply can't stand Lynx.

By the way, can I have my Q back now? I have some @'s to terrorize.

Edit: Oh, ICQ is a form of DCC. Why does it exist then?

Goodness me, it's been a while since I was last here - Probably disqualifies me from taking up a forum helper position, but if you want me doing it again, I'm planning on being more involved here (especially given the upcoming release) anyway!

This, I can volunteer to help out with.  I mess around with Linux quite a fair bit, and while rusty, I'm sure my C++ is sufficiently potent to fight fires and things like that.

Damn. If it weren't for my final year of school starting up next year, and the massive workload that comes with it, I'd want to be in on this.. we'll see how things are a year from now, when school is OVER!. :P
