Putting her hand on Hagezi shoulder, Shioban stopped him
'Wait, I'll go!' she said. 'You are better armed after all...'

Despite taking this bold action, she was still very calm.

Hagazi moved off the ladder without a word, making room for Shioban. The climb itself was some 9 metres, to the next floor. Reaching it, Shioban found a hatch that should've been covering the ladder well had been left open. The hatch itself was light and didn't have any lock, most likely it was just meant to keep people from falling down the whole length of the tower. Climbing out, she found the 1st floor maintenance corridors were pretty much the same as those below - red emergency lights, the quiet background noise of life support systems, coloured stripes on the walls pointing the way. The ones you already knew as marked as "Sec Access" led further up the ladder well. The door leading to the tower corridors proper on this level was closed - at least in this particular passage.

'Come on no danger here!' Shoban said.

After Hagezi and Doc reached her, without a word she started to climb higher.

Hagazi said nothing but climbed after Siobhan. After getting to where she was he first started to cover Vincent, then after he got up also shifted his attention to the maintenance tunnels while Toy climbed upwards again.

Hastily, Vince climbed up the ladder, then crouched and sweeped the corridor, careful of what he hears. He hoped those beasts aren't that much stealthy and at least a faint sound of slithering may be heard in the right time.

Aside from the steady droninig sound of life-support machinery, there really wasn't anything else to be heard on the 1st floor. If the creature you saw had come up here, it had kept going, or was being exceptionally quiet.

Climbing further, Shioban ran into another hatch, this one closed, but all it took was a light push to get it open. The 2nd floor maintenance tunnel was likewise quiet and rather empty - the only difference being that the stripes leading to Security Access turned off here, leading to the nearby door, though the door itself was closed. It looked rather simple, not a big bulkhead, but a simple sliding door with a handle.

'Clear!'

After Hagezi and Doc reached her, Shioban secured her gun and approached the door and tried to open them.

The door was fitted with an electronic lock, but with main power down, it appeared to be inactive. At any rate, all it took was a light tug on the handle to get the door to slide smoothly out of the way.

The corridor beyond it was quite wide - maybe some 6 metres - and as a result of its width, most of it was shrouded in darkness, only the walls could be made out thanks to the emergency lighting. Directly to the left of the maintenance door the corridor leads off to a rather massive bulkhead door - thankfully, this one is open, and leading further on into what looks like an enclosed bridge. To the right, the corridor leads off, before splitting up in two some few hundred metres further. Here and there, closed doors can be seen, marked out by the red emergency lighting. Granted, most of the floor can't be seen for lack of light, but from what you can see, it looks quite litter-, corpse-, and shadowy shape-free.

There was a sound of something igniting - Lacking flashlight, a flare will have to do...

The flare cast its bright red light in a circle about 1.5 metres in radius, illuminating the floor and just a fraction of the wall. The floor was rather unremarkable - solid plates, bolted down, without much of... anything really cluttering up the floor. No left-behind belongings, no blood, body parts or whole bodies, no shell cases, bullet marks or scorches. Just a clean, empty and near-silent corridor.

Vince carefully and slowly strolled forward, holding the weapon tightly and glancing around. The rosary was chiming silently, tied on a shotgun's barrel, accompanied by sounds of heavy boots stepping. Doc examined the ceiling, aiming a gun there.
"It's so silent. Much too silent", he drawled.

- I'm starting to get used to that, really... Toy, could you carry that flare while I take the point and doc covers the rear?

Shioban put up the flare from the ground and raised it over her head.

'Well, I'll be on point then... What now, lieutenant?'

- Just follow the yellow brick road. Follow the, follow the, follow the yellow brick road... - Hagazi chuckled then became serious then - The stripe brought us to the bridge, so I say we cross it. With any luck on the other side we'll be greeted by another helpfull stripe or just big neon sign labeled "security".
