Sad Story
« on: October 27, 2009, 06:22 »

So, I downloaded DoomRL about 6 days ago after seeing a link to the new version from TIGSource. I've been playing quite a bit and beat the game on the easiest difficulty a couple days ago.

Best character I've had so far, however, was an AoSh guy on Medium difficulty with the Jackhammer, down to lvl 23, when I saw the stairs to the Mortuary. So I thought, hey, this is going to be tough -- you get a Gold Badge for clearing this thing, and I haven't even gotten a Silver one yet. Still, hey, why not, I can do this, this character just got Army of the Dead, right?

Now I know what you're thinking -- the "sad" part is where I get blown to bits by arch-vile forces, right? Wrong. I blew those suckers away with my armor-piercing jackhammer. Had a couple tough moments, but wasn't really in too much danger. "All right!" I thought. I started exploring and saw something called the "Angelic Armor" -- wow, that's a sweet item! I'm going to totally own the Cyberdemon!

And then my one-year-old hit the power button on my computer. D-:

Did I forget to mention him? Yeah, he's been playing around me the whole time, but he apparently decided that the glowing power button was too cool to pass up. He can be sneaky when he wants to be.

No, I don't backup my save files.

Oh well... just have to do it again, right?

Anyway, just wanted to share the story and say that I'm loving the game! It's great, and I'll be playing it a lot more.

Always remember: little kids are ninja in their sneaky ways :D

Good. Savescummers aren't approved of around here.

Congrats on downloading DoomRL, and while you're at it, why not get Aliens RL and Berserk RL :P

No love for DiabloRL? Now that you say something, I should check out Aliens and Berserk, I just wish DiabloRL got a touch more attention (well, really looking for more of a game, but one thing at a time).

Yeah DiabloRL isn't that great at the moment. It just doesn't have the playability as Kornel's other three RLs in its current form.
