How do you complete the wall with only pistols? It makes no sense.

I've always considered the time-based diamond badges impossible (including red alert).  But maybe that's just me... I play like a tortoise.

But Red Alert is turned based. This nightmare thing counts the real time. That's a huge diffirence [;

Just curious, did you notice that you can do the badge on Angel of Berserk? Of the two, I think AoB would be the more impossible one. Of course, there are ways to do both. AoMr offers more options to complete it, however.

Brick Silver isn't that bad if you get very lucky - the Anti-Freak Jackal opeates as a rocket launcher and can be generated on level 2 if you get lucky, while being usable on marksman games.  Berserkers also get a weapon that destroys walls, but they are guaranteed to not get it - the Longinus Spear - until level 15/16.  For what it's worth, the plasma shotgun can also be used to destroy walls on restricted attack games.

This is definitely true.  AoRA is more feasible, but... my experiences with the platinum badge were pretty luck-based, and I can't imagine doing the same on UV.

But with AoB, you (should) have a chainsaw, Brute 3 and Berserker. Once you phase in, you rip everything up, and phase out again.

I tend to think a badge shouldn't be put into the game until at least 1 person has been able to do something.  That's because it would be very frustrating to try for an achievement that is actually impossible!

Impossible is nothing.  Having the world crash on you is more frustrating.

No. Having it crash OVER AND OVER AND OVER again is frustrating. I'm so glad K fixed that beta...

Speaking of crashing (sorry for off-topic), DoomRL 0.9.8.10 used to crash horribly for me, usually every game. When I finally went on to send the crash reports, voila, DoomRL 0.9.9! And no crashes since! I hope the game stays like that.

Anyways, I think the challenges are intended to be hard on the top end of the spectrum, but maybe they will be balanced soon.
