I've beaten him once, and been killed by him twice, and I just resent having my access to him being a luck-of-the-draw type deal as to whether I get an invulnerability orb within the last stretch or not. Heck, the first time I killed him, I used a nuclear plasma rifle to annihilate Cybie as opposed to an actual thermie.

As I recall, the main reason that the Spider's Lair might not spawn is if you've got another special level that's spawned in the level range where the lair would be.

Spider's Lair only has a 40% chance of appearing in any given game.
