My First win! hooray! Although, I don't think I would've been able to do it without the rail gun I found in the vaults. The wiki says it's ludicrously rare. I mainly posted this just to ask if anyone has any numbers for that?

Well done! Were you deliberately avoiding I'm Too Young To Die? I got my first win in less than 24 hours, Easy is a great training mode. How much did the railgun help you? The damage per time isn't spectacular for a single target; I presume you were using it on vile-packs and the like? Odd that you were risking death (24 HP versus 6d6 rocket attacks) when you had thermies available for an instant win.

As for the rail gun, any allegation that it's the rarest unique is nonsense. It's twice as common as the Dragonslayer, and that's ignoring all the special cases that can produce artifact ranged weapons, such as Vaults items.

Drone:
The Cyberdemon was on "Almost dead", so I decided to try and finish him off, since the railgun will on average do 36 damage I guessed he'd probably die. I was originally intending to have my first completion on H (Hurt me plenty) but I kept getting unlucky and dying (One game I died when the map that was generated included a giant room completely dividing the map entirely filled with lava, I tried to run across (I hadn't found a envirosuit yet) and used all my medkits before dying a couple of tiles from the exit door of the room) The Railgun was fairly helpful against most enemies since with cateye I could often kill them before they came into range. Against archviles I usually just fired my BFG against them from a distance since they'd always seem to be inside a big clump of hell knights or barons.

My first cybie kill also involved the railgun. Its a sweet piece of hardware, also its the only one I've ever gotten.

Railgun is powerful, though I have not had the chance to use it, since I was in the middle of some other weapon restriction build.

Oh well... I suppose there's always a next time.
