Do you think this is a good strategy?
« on: April 05, 2010, 04:45 »

Always close doors behind you.
[I'm usually a shottyman but not on alien rl]Shotguns are useless because you require close range.
Use a medikit when your hp drops below 47%
Its best to know an escape route.
Grab armour ASAP
Chose firepower over armour [gyro stabilizer springs into mind].

So what do you think about these wonderfull Good Ok n00bish tactics

I tend to leave doors opened when there are some supplies inside room.
If everything is used, it would be wise to close them, thats for sure.

Shotguns are not useless - they kill everything except Elites (thats what Krak and Inc grenades are for) and Workers (outrunnable, can be ignored to some extent, and not worthy to be attacked). It is not wise to waste Smartgun ammo on 10 hunters/warriors when you can use shotty, is it?

Using medikits depends on your Medical skill level, being radiated/or not, etc.

Escape route - I make screenshots with the position of lifts, so yeah thats the same.

Firepower / armor - you are generally right, but ...I died few times because of hunters' run and attack speed.
With some armor I could outlive it.
In other words it is pretty well balanced, imho.

I never believe that EVERY monster on the map is moving all of the time. So I don't really care about something that I don't see.

And another question - are Radiation Suits usefull? They offer little protection and you never know would you walk into radiation soon.

In 0.8 BETA most of monsters are static when they don't see you. I think they start to move when you hit them.
And of course they start to move when they see you.

Also, I think they start to move (all on map) after you kill the queen.

Radiotion Suits - depends on the gameplay. Quite useful when I spend a lot of time in radiated areas.
Quite bad after you get the smartgun, because you need gyro-stabilizer badly.
