How do i equip a weapon on dwarf fortress [adventure mode]

Angles of death:
I wanted to cause some trouble in the town i was in so i got the drunk to join me and i killed the drunk [hehe!]but now i think the town might be after me so what button lets me wield a weapon?{edit}the town slaughtered me because i forgot to use skill.....At least my next character massacred that town.
