BattleTech/Mechwarrior Campaing via MegaMek
« on: May 04, 2010, 15:40 »

Here is the idea:
There is a web, free program called MegaMek that actually allows playing BattleTech board game online (http://megamek.sourceforge.net/). BattleTech is a wargame about huge mechs outfitted with several ton of weaponry fighting over... over anything, in fact. It has well developed storyline, metric ton of options and is quite fun to play. It also gave birth to popular franchise of MechWarrior games.

So, what would the campaign involve? On-line skirmishes from time to time and the option for character development and mech upgrades/maintenance in the meantime. It would not require MUCH knowledge of BattleTech rules (MegaMek is MOSTLY automated nor any familiarity with the BattleTech storyline.

Any volunteers?

What's the time commitment like?  I'm game for trying out something new.

It depends a bit, but we did a 2v1 game in about two hours, including at least one longer afk period in that time.

Right, this is IMPORTANT.

Who specifically is interested, and can confirm that they will be taking part? Just so Malek and me know we're not setting this affair up just for the one other person?

Post it here, we'd like entries in writing, and submitted personally, not a brief second-hand comment on IRC.

I can play this campaign, if the knowledge of the BattleMech storyline isn't needed.

We'll pretty much be making our own up as we go.

I don't think I can commit the time for this, so I'll pass for now.

You folks have fun.  ^_^
