The dragonborn smiles gently "Bahumat is a God of hope, not worry, and he guides my path. As for being alive, indeed, it is much better than being dead. I'm not sure what sort of game you are refering to, but yes - life remains, and we are in it. That being the case, it feels ages since I've stretched my legs. If none of you have found anything interesting in that door, I think I'll see what's out there."

The door appeared to have been left open, though the damp surroundings made it stick a bit and require a slightly harder push. Still, it didn't take any real effort to open it. The tunnel beyond it seemed *mostly* natural, though there were signs it'd been worked at some point in the past. It was lit with the occasional torch wedged between the rocks, and seemed rather devoid of any interesting features.

Aside from the five brown goblins engrossed in watching two greenish slugs battle it out on the tunnel floor. Your awakening pulled them away from their entertainment, though.

"They awake! Gloob, go tell master!" one of them shouted, and the one apparently named Gloob took off running down the tunnel. The others snatched up their axes and swords and pointed them in your general direction. "You come with us now! Master want to see you."

These ones seemed better-armed and armoured than the ones you'd faced coming into the tower. They had partial metal armour covering them, and crude-forged helmets on their heads. Their weapons, while not looking terribly sophisticated, appeared no less deadly.

'Do we have choice?' asked Tristan, looking at the armored minions. 'I guess not' he concluded after a second of silence.

"You will not need your weapons in dealing with us." Not yet, at least. "Please lead the way."

Ma'kirr felt unnerved by this. Goblins... being civil?
Though not her specialty, she felt she could handle herself unarmed should things go bad, but as for her party she could not say.

The goblins led you away from the cave-cell and through the rough-hewn tunnels. You could see various other tunnels branching off here and there, but your escort seemed intent on one direction. Soon enough the tunnel began to climb and take on a more worked appearance, the walls becoming smoother and more regular, the gradual incline giving way to carved steps, and those in turn to proper stairs. The higher you went, the more familiar the architecture seemed, with demon statues holding firebowls to light the way, and small windows at regular intervals on the turns of the stair showing a rocky, jagged landscape outside.

If you still had any doubts as to where you were, they were done away with as you neared the end of the stairwell and heard a familiar voice.

"Get some new material!"

Just as you reached the top of the stairs, you heard a cry, then saw a goblin in what appeared to be a jester's cap come flying through the air, skip several times on the floor to the sound of tinkling bells, before finally ending its brief flight with a splash at the other end of the chamber. On the opposite side of the room, the Overlord was just settling back down onto his throne.

"So hard to find good entertainment these days," he noted. "Ah, my latest acquisitions have woken up. Certainly took you long enough... but let's get to business. I find myself rather short on capable lieutenants to see to matters out in the field at the moment. Seeing as you killed them all, I think you should prove a bit more competent than they were. Since we've previously established who has the upper hand here, I've got an offer for you. Serve me, and you will be well rewarded. Alternatively, I could simply reduce you to thralls with barely a shred of free will, your choice. Serve me faithfully, though, and you'll not find me ungrateful."

The little speech done, the Overlord leaned back in his throne, fingers clicking quietly on the arm rest. "So, what say you? I'll see you serve one way or another... it's up to you what the terms of servitude will be."

With a simple shrug Ma'kirr took a step forward, hand raised. "I'll take that offer"

Tristan looked like he was hit in the face when Overlord finished his speech. He shook his head slowly, not knowing what to say. He glanced at Ma'Kirr, no longer surprised by her eagerness to comply... After all, she had a life to keep. But he? He face a different dilemma.

'I...' he finally begun, speaking slowly, like he was having troubles formulating his words 'will never willingly server you, FIEND!' he finished, shouting last word on the top of his lungs, doing everything he could to hide that he was shuddering in fear.

Losing life? He already did. He would die gladly here. But losing free will? That was... worse. Much worse.

- "Wise choice there cat lady, count me in too." - Ryltar nods his head in approval then turns to Tristran - "Aaaw, what is it... little paladin has a deathwish?"

'In case you did not notice earlier, drow' muttered Tristan, turning his paled face towards Ryltar.

- "Too bad, so sad. It's too late now - in case you didn't notice this guy over there..." - Ryltar pointed at the Overlord - "...brought us all back from death's door. So no wussing out for you, it's only matter of wether you will work for him of own choice or as a mindless drone."

"Funny. The Keeper of my tower thought much the same for a time. I believe you've met him already. And killed him over there," the Overlord pointed over to the other side of the throne room before looking back at Tristan. "Consider this, knightling: if it wasn't for me, your kings would probably be at each others' throats, accusing each other of ungodly acts, and sending poor fools like you after each other to slay the evil usurpers, warmongers, traitors, and whatever else they could think of. And you'd do it too, with a smile I imagine. You'd give your life to return chaos and disorder to the realms, and you would rather die than serve the one who would bring unity and order to the lands?"

'I may be stupid, but not that stupid, fiend' replied Tristan dryly. 'My allegiance is to Avandra, not to earthly lords. And even if they are corrupted, even if they fight each other, they at least do not make destroying minds and hearts of those who oppose them their habit. And what unity do you bring that is better than freedom?'

"If Knight-Boy over there wants to put up a last ditch, vain, hopeless, futile, pathetic struggle, I say let him. Use him for as a training dummy for your minions." Ma'kirr had nothing... well she had a few things against Tristan but all in all he was just a dumb guy. But if he was going to throw away a chance to live, he could die for all she cared if it meant improving her chances of survival. Especially in this kind of dire situation.

'Yes, death appears to be favourable to service... Thank you Ma'Kirr for your support.'
