"
I *felt* that..."
Despite the continuing series of blows, the Overlord didn't seem to have any trouble getting back up again. However, he did not seem the slightest bit amused by Ma'kirr's efforts or Ryltar's stroke of good luck. "
I think this has gone on for quite long enough," he stated. For a second, you saw his gauntlet flare up with light, though this time the glow was a harsh white. Moments later the glow spread to envelop the whole of the Overlord's figure, raising him off the floor and into the air. You barely had time to blink before lightning arced out of his body, striking into each of you - even those that had fallen. The pain was incredible, but thankfully short as you soon lost consciousness. The last thing you saw and heard before fading to black were the Overlord's feet touching back down on the floor with a resounding clang.
Darkness took you, but it did not seem to want to keep you. Your spirits, severed from your mortal forms, soon felt the sharp tug of the living realm again, and with it the pull of a powerful will... too powerful to resist in your current collective state. Once more, darkness overcame you...
...and then disappeared as you opened your eyes, drew breath again. You were alive, that much you could tell - your bodies ached with memories of recent burns and shattered bones, though you could find no mark on yourselves. Unfortunately, you also could find no trace of your equipment, save travelling clothes. While you were... incapacitated, someone must have relieved you of it. Your surroundings did not look terribly welcoming - a natural cavern, lit by a few torches wedged in between the rocks here and there, with moisture dripping off the walls and large mushrooms growing here and there. The smell wasn't terribly pleasant either.
A quick glance around showed a possible exit way: a tunnel had been carved to the cavern, and had been fitted with a rather crude wooden door.
Congratulations, you have defeated the evil Ov... oh, right.
Well, as they say, death is only the beginning.
The pain has taught you quite a few things, and netted you each 200 XP.
You also receive an AP for the milestone, bringing Aden and Tristan up to 2, and the rest of you back to 1.
You are also considered to have undergone an extended rest - you are back to full health and full surges.
Don't worry about your equipment - it will be returned in due time.
