 Derek Yu, level 10 Hell Baron Sergeant Major, sacrificed himself to kill the Cyberdemon
 on level 25 of the Phobos base.
 He survived 10289 turns and scored 37757 points.
 He played for 7 minutes and 16 seconds.
 He didn't like it too rough.

 He killed 37 out of 566 hellspawn. (6%)
 My, was he a wimpy chump.
 He was an Angel of Pacifism!

 Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
 Is he immortal? 9 souls claim to have killed him...
 4 sacrificed itself for the good of mankind.
 3 killed the bastard and survived.
 2 showed that it can outsmart hell itself.

At some point recently, I saw Game Hunter's signature challenging people to beat a 7:50 AoPc run. It took me a few tries, but I did it. Looking at the mortem I noticed I had stockpiled some red armors. Apparently I had time to pick them up, but never any time to think about wearing them. I did get a full win during the AoPc attempts, but that game was ~15-20 minutes. I think it was my first full win in 0.9.9.1.

Dag, yo. And I thought my 7:50 time was rather generous of the RNG...shaving another 30-35 seconds is crazy. Major props on managing 7/10 special levels, too, I can only imagine trying for Compet-N Plat + Explorer.

Of course, this just means I have to keep running through until I break YOUR record, and so on and so forth, until someone goes so fast Kornel feels obliged to add an entirely new Compet-N medal. Off I go!

I agree that the RNG has to like you for this to be even possible. I think it only took 4 M AoPc wins (I don't know how runs I did, 30ish?) to beat 7:50, but I've played a lot of N! AoPc/AoB which helped a great deal. Even then it took a considerable amount of button mashing, alternating movement keys with enter presses to get the messages to go by as fast as possible.

I really wondered for the ~10-20 seconds I was in the Mortuary if I was going to die. I always just took the first set of stairs I saw, which might be foolish, but I didn't have a lot of time to think. Too bad I missed the Halls of Carnage, it's always worth stepping in there for a brief second.

I think with a little more RNG luck and the same amount of button mashing, I think at least another ~10-15 seconds could be shaved off. I do remember spending way too much time on one level, but I still got pretty lucky over all. I can't decide if I should wait for you to beat my time, or just start trying to beat it now...

Took a couple of hours and quite a few restarts, but man, I like to think it was worth it.

It sure as hell didn't start all that well, couple of almost-deaths, but I was too pissed to keep restarting after a small ray of hope. Level 6 Chained Court netted me an extra level and plenty of berserk for a couple of floors. Surely, my late-game was far more lucky, with at least six sets of stairs immediately within range.

Hellgate is kinda funny, actually: you pick up the med-packs and armor and globes, and then hold down the right arrow while frantically pressing the Enter key. Even with all the Lost Souls on you, I only needed one pack to survive.

I think I'm done trying to beat a record now, this is about as much of a divine intervention I could've asked for.

Damn. I tried a couple more runs a few days ago and hit a 7:17, but this blows mine out of the water. I'm going to try to beat this one, but that is a tall order. Very well done.
