Another speed run, but this time it's my fastest full win. I only bothered to grab the onyx pack because I had already given up on breaking the 5:48 mark, but the invulnerability I needed ended up being right next to the pack, so in the end it was worth walking over to. Other then that, pretty much the standard mash buttons as quickly as you can and hope the stairs are around.

I still don't think I can hit 5:48, but I'm actually making progress towards the Cyberdemon rank, so it's not entirely a wasted effort.

As a side note, I think the fastest way to play DoomRL is under your native OS. I had been playing it through a virtual copy of XP, because there is no 64bit linux version, but I found that I could run it under a 32bit 'jail'. I have noticed the game is slightly faster, but only by fractions of a second, but those fractions matter. Turns out the player.wad seems to work between OSes too.

I suppose it was bound to happen eventually. Still, bravo: a nice Fl1 to add to your string of Pt#. You might also be able to write this off as the highest-point HNTR Pacifism run, too (dunno how points are allocated besides monster kills, but 15% is damn good).

Frankly, I don't think I could hit a sub-6 time anytime in the near future, even if I played several hours straight. I wish I could have had a replay for it (video recorder woulda just been a blur, haha) so you can understand just how lucky I was...I'm not even talking about an abundance of packs of anything, it was a crapton of stairs spawned next to me.
