Because the weapon is horribly overpowered? Besides, what's the point of dropping a weapon that the player won't have time to use?

Skilled is the shottyman that can assemble and load a specialized ammo belt into his chainshotgun in the time it takes to move a step.

In some other universe, that would be an awesome idea. Sadly, in this universe it would fry Doomguy as well as his enemies.

Drop the O for a B, up the number of shots, clip down to 30, alt-reload to overload and adjust the damage a bit and it could work.

Better? I preferred it the old way since it made you use all four Exotic Mod Packs in order to get a massively OP weapon

Everyone keeps asking about automatic shotguns, but that's what the Jackhammer is already supposed to be;

anyway, my horrible idea:

Weapon Jamming & Barrel Overheating:  occasionally firing attempts fail and you are forced to retry the shot, or even reload

(might be a desirable feature to have for certain mods, actually)
