Ander Hammer: What's the defining feature of Nightmare difficulty, and what do flooding levers do to that? If anything, the Platinum for Angel of Waves would be pulling every single lever on UV

Rereading over this thread, saw this.

Angel of the Gauntlet

You play all the challenges one by one from HNTR, in increasing difficulty of the challenge (new difficulty ratings in next release).  Then you play them on HMP.  Then UV.  Then N!.

You cannot save; you cannot die.  You may bring one weapon, one stack of ammunition for that (if needed), one armour and one set of boots between each challenge.  You may retain only 1 Advanced trait taken between each challenge; but if it blocks some master trait, that trait will be block.

When you die, you start the gauntlet all over again.

Get to Angel of Overconfidence on N!
"Welcome to Hell, level 1. Twisted passageways smell of death. The arachnotron hits you. The arachnotron hits you. The arachnotron hits you. The arachnotron hits you. The arachnotron hits you. The arachnotron hits you. The arachnotron hits you. The arachnotron hits you. You die..."

Better yet: "Red paint mod", which makes your guns fire/armor movespeed THREE times faster/, because you think it's possible! Clap your hands if you believe, indeed.

Some nice memories there, yeah. But reading 1d4Chan stuff, I got ahold of another Orky thing.

/tg/'s Purple paint mod
Description: "Purple iz da sneakiest color!"
Effect: Can only be used on armors and boots. All enemy attacks when using that armor count as having -4 accuracy, no matter which weapon is. Even Archvile's flames are affected!

Even better – nuclear explosion can miss you! But you have to believe in it oh so much.

He waited enough for new version of DoomRL.
He played classic Doom but not passed. He also played rogulikes. And once he found the intersection of these sets...

Invulnerability Marble

A powerup, that grants invulnerability against a single source of damage, i.e. when you would be damaged for the first time after picking it up (from whatever source), the damage is negated and invulnerability ends.
Yes, you could survive a nuke with this one.

I expect this powerup to last a single application of damage, so you won't survive the second nuke whatever you do - well, unless taking another powerup for nuclear explosions. BTW, the damage in question is "fire", so a mancubus can trick the doomguy off this one :)

Well, how often would you expect to find the Marble? ;)

(In case this would not be clear - a nuke _is_ a source of damage. Yes, you can get through one. No, you can _not_ get through two.)

A challenge I thought a while ago. Yeah, I'm that insane.

Angel of Frailty:

"You know that protection can get destroyed, right? Right!? Well, guess what, chump? Weapons can be destroyed if they are over-used, too!". Any and all weapons have limited durability, which depletes on each use. Armor shards and the lever effects related to repairing of armor can be used to replenish the damage weapons sustain over time.

Angel of Perfection

You only have 1 hit point. Ironman, TaN and Badass are blocked.

Just when I wondered to propose this challenge, with 2DevsOut difficulty rating. You, sir, read my mind :-D.

2Dev, it's enough to block Bad and Iro with this, because regardless of TaN levels, if you're hit, you are hit for 1 damage at least, which is enough to get killed.

It's better if it's blocked, because why would someone spend a point in a trait that doesn't work? Leaving it activated would be an unneccesary thing to do, as one can accidentally choose it.

To get to some Master trait.

Indeed; Marines still get the shot at Survivalist if the traits aren't blocked, which then negates scratch damage.

Question: Has anyone actually managed a Zero Damage run?
