Bug or feature? (Massive Spoilers)
« on: November 24, 2010, 13:38 »

Maybe a feature or not. On a UV AoMC run, on either level 23 or 24, i saw 2 Nightmare imps.  Were they intended only on N! or AO100, or were they meant to appear on UV non-100 too?

It seems likely to me that a sneaky vile was reviving them... check your mortem for the presence of one?

They should normally not spawn before Level 30, but I believe that Nightmare could have affected that. Uncertain, I'll check with Kornel about it.

It was Ultra-Violence. Max Carnage. Nightmare imps should only appear on N! Hellgate or beyond level 30 (obviously only on Ao100) AFAIK. But it seems that UV scaled the difficulty so high, the game acted like it was level 30+.

I can vouch for The DoomRLguy, I've seen nightmare variants on UV and N! (sans Hellgate) before. Also, there are no Nightmare Caco caves on A100. (Should there be? I think I might actually prefer Arach caves.)

If the setting is level 30, is that the setting for HNTR, where there is "Normal monster/ammo generation" (from the wiki)? Which means that, unless there's a hardcoded limit, the scaling could push those enemies a lot closer to showing up on standard UV/N! games.

by the may, Mrazerty, that is impossible. Not only do i have no mortem of that level, i may soon post that run as a YAAM. What exactly did you mean?

He means that your victory post-mortem contains statistics of every monster you killed. If it's a 100% kill game, then nightmare imps will definitely show up as part of those statistics.

Since it's intended, though, the point is basically moot now.
