...and the backstory.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)Pistis Sophia perfectly remembers each day of her life after the induction to Schola Progenum, and yet, no matter how hard and long would she meditate and concentrate, she finds herself unable to recall what was before that moment. Only a few blurred images of a verdant, garden world, of people who could have been her family, and most disturbingly of all, a memory of being cradled in arms of a women of perfect, inhuman beauty, draped in robes that could have been created only by Xeno give her some clues regarding her earliest years. Still, to this day, she does not know where she born, from whom, and why did she end up in Schola Progenum, hailed as a child of great Imperials. Even after her elevation to the status of Inquisitor, even after many nights spent over the vast databanks of Tricorn Palace, all she found was the fact that all records regarding her whereabouts were expunged from the archives by unknown hand. She tries not to think about it much, nowadays, but still, she quietly hopes that between the investigations she leads, she will be somehow able to unearth her past.
In Schola Progenum on Maccabeus Quintus she was considered talented. Her will was strong; she has shown aptitude for physical combat, as well as considerable ease in learning and an uncanny charisma. Thus, as soon as she was granted the title of Progena, she was given a rare, precious offer of joining Adepta Sororitas, the Sisters of Battle. It can be imagined, that she thanked the Throne that day for giving her such a wonderful opportunity to serve Him.
Soon, she was accepted into one of the Orders, elevated to the rank of Novice, and promised a future in which she would soon rise to the glory. But that was never to come. The disasters struck under a guise of miracle. After days of fasting and praying in the order’s chapel, Pistis Sophia felt as if a third eye opened for her, as if the Emperor himself granted her the gift to see into people’s very souls, to discern righteous from wicked. Ecstatic, she confessed of that gift to the Sister Superior of the Order. Only to found herself accused of consorting with Ruinous Powers, thrown to damp, dark cell, stripped of every little bit of dignity and undergoing months long ordeal only to force the confession from her. And while she did not confess, and while pleaded innocent every time they asked her, her mind was nearing the breaking point.
Salvation came unexpectedly, from the hands of Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor known as Markus. Somehow, he convinced- or what is more likely- forced the Sisterhood to release Pistis Sophia into his custody.
He soon learned that the girl was indeed pure in spirit, untouched by Chaos. And so, he deemed that her gifts and abilities will now serve the Inquisition. She accepted gratefully, but her mind almost gone- it took her many years to return to her previous mental capabilities.
After five years of service as an acolyte, she was sent to one of the Inquisitorial facilities in Calixis Sector, no reason given. There, she stood numerous trials, spent several years training her will and mind and on the day when she was scheduled to return to her master, she was presented with Inquisitorial Rosette.
Rest of the tale of her life and service remains yet to be told.
Appearance:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)Age: 30
Height: 161 cm
Weight: 49 kg
Hair colour: amber/white
Eye colour: grey
Pistis Sophia is very short as for an Inquisitor, barely reaching 1.6m in height, which added to her rather dainty build make her look very innocuous. She is one of the youngest Inquisitors in Calixis Sector, having finished the thirtieth year of her life shortly before receiving the rosette, and understandably, some of the more experienced Agents of the Throne treat her with a fair bit of reserve, or, in some cases, an attitude that can be almost considered patronizing, believing that she has yet to prove herself in the eyes of Holy Ordos. Nonetheless, due to her build, she appears even younger, and if not for the Rosette she bears, any claims of her being Inquisitor would be met with laughter-, which is, once can say, a rather big asset.
Her hair started to slowly revert to its original, amber color recently, but the hue is still bleached by the potent chemical agents that the Sisterhood used to ensure that all the sister had the same, pure white color of hair.
Until recently, she was horribly scarred on entire body, disfigured by the combat and investigation, but one of the first things she have done after attaining the rank of Inquisitor was requesting a rejuvenation treatment from one of the most acclaimed Magos Biologi of Calixis Sector- thus, most of the tells of her rather unpleasant past are now gone.
Personality:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)Lady Inquisitor Pistis Sophia is a cheerful, if silent person. She considers herself extremely lucky, for indeed, she was spared from a grim fate more than once. She prefers to travel incognito, disguised as a humble pilgrim or another person of low status.
If there is one feeling that defines her deeply, it would be the deep, burning hatred for Ecclesiarchy and the Sisters of Battle. As an Inquisitor, she is always eager to sense corruption or heresy among their ranks, even if she has no evidence.
Kamikaze14:
Looks good so far. Keep in mind that I only ran one DH session and that consisted of starting characters derailing the plot at every turn, so I don't know what half of these talents and traits are, or the entire SoB faith system for that matter.
Kamikaze14:
ZZ, Xander, how are your characters coming along? Also, Kashi, you get one reroll for stats.
Xander Morhaime:
I'd been looking over the rulebook, mostly, but I can start work as soon as I've got ruling on one small issue...
What about chapters not covered by the core rulebook? Say, Scythes of the Emperor?
Also, do you use IRC and the Chaosforge channel? It's usually useful for GMs and players to get in touch quickly...
Kamikaze14:
I'm not sure if I can access the IRC from school, but I'll try to start going on it after school and on weekends. Rites of Battle lets you make custom chapters and I have scans of the chapter creation section, but it's rather limited, but that could be due to the fact that I was trying to make the traitor legions and the Angry Marines. :p
