fmod.ddl is missing?
« on: February 25, 2011, 22:43 »

Hello, all.

I'm trying to run the console version of AliensRL 0.8 on my new computer but the program won't start as something called a "fmod.dll" is missing from my computer.

I'm running on Windows 7.

Is there any way to get around this?

Thanks in advance!

fmod.dll should be in the zip file -- did you decompress it?

Hi - yes, I've decompressed it and it's not in there.

I think I've located the source of the problem - the console download only has the .exe file while the non-console version has everything that's needed.

Which has brought up another problem...the .exe doesn't seem to run at all.  A brief image of a DOS window opens and then quickly closes.

Go to http://alien.chaosforge.org/downloads.

Click on the ONLY link under "Current Downloads". It's titled "aliensrl-win-0.8.zip".

This will contain all the files. There is only one version of the 0.8 AliensRL release.

Yup, and quite well hidden:

Kornel, it seems that you should merge console binary into archive, or add additional download on the web page ;) .

Speaking of console ...I think I remembered that saves from console did not work with the normal version - is it possible to make them compatible, Kornel?

Liesssssssssssssss ...

Heh, maybe I should have used the words "official" ;)

What's in that console package is just the .exe and only that. You need the normal download, and that's an alternative .exe to run the game.
