Mortems from Marksmanship challenge
« on: November 27, 2006, 08:19 »

I think that we need some topics to share our experiences and archievments in particular challenges. I'll post my mortem for beginning. It's my second try of 0985, and it's not bad. But i suppose that some people could do it better. Post your records!

 He killed 243 out of 260 hellspawn. (93%) (*)
He held his right to remain violent.
He was an Angel of Marksmanship!

He stormed the Chained Court. (**)

He then stormed the Chained Court.
On level 5 he battled through the complex.
On level 6 he battled through the complex.
On level 7 he found a hellish city.
On level 8 he battled through the complex.
On level 9 he battled through the complex.
On level 10 he battled through the complex.
On level 11 he battled through the complex.
On level 12 he battled through the complex.
There he finally was killed by a arch-vile.

-- General ---------------------------------------------------

Before him 1 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:

Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 1 souls claim to have killed him...
1 killed the bastard and survived. (*****)

--------------------------------------------------------------

(*) Killed everyone on previous levels(i like to clear ALL), but appearence of Arch-Vile blocking way to exit destroyed all plans to even survive this level. I can imagine that you can kill Arch-Vile with pistol if you have all perks related on pistols, at least 100% hp and nobody biting your in ass. Otherwise you will win only with dozens of luck.
(**) Visited only Chained Court, because i won't survive with pistol on arena even 1 round. The only reason to visit The Wall with pistol was to look at the wall, to listen to the sounds and then go away.
(***) Not bad set of perks, but not the best. If anybody have an idea about the better - post here.
(****) He-he, i was really ammo truck on legs.)))
(*****) I posted this YAVP in another topic here.

well, 0985 seems to be quite possible to win for experienced player(but i tested only on Hurt Me Plenty, haven't opened yet Ultra Violence, or Nightmare!).

Of course -- just take another trait of Son of a Gun, and I'll bet that in all further Marksmanship challanges you will first take two SoaG's :D (hint -- there's an advanced trait unlocked by 2 levels of SoaG :D).

The only problem with taking two levels of Son of a Gun at the begining of this callenge is that they (and the first level of the other trait) prevent us from taking necessary traits like Eagle Eye and Hellrunner. Looking at his post mortem I get the feeling we have the same playing style. (Coward tactics always, eagle eye to boost +attack, but he goes on to intuition, while I take hellrunner (to help me not be hit) at Ironman.)

Sigh. Maybe I should modify my playing style...
