About the Gambler's Shield medal
« on: February 27, 2011, 00:40 »

Can you get this medal in an Ao100 run, and if not, what's the chance of > 25 levers actually spawning in a normal game? :/

Well, I've only tried for it once, but I swear I found like 6. At least I finally got that ITYTD full win. MLIA.

Gambler's Shield is explicitly banned from Ao100 if I recall correctly.

As for the number of levers... it's quite good actually.  Think about it, it translates to using 1.1 levers per level, on average.

I'd say at least 99%, considering that most games you'll see a few levels with 3-4 levers.

Unless the number of levers is difficulty-dependent (in which I need to man up and try for more gold badges) or else I have been godly unlucky so far, I dispute that statistic. I don't recall levers appearing at all in cave or arena layouts, and it's not uncommon to find zero on a given level of any other type.

This feels like the Aurora Medallion all over again, except as well as luck you also need to continually take risks with your serious characters. Forget that, my 20/40 medals right now are nicely even anyway. :P

If thats the real complaint - I think there are other medals that deserve much more attention....since some of them have NEVER been unlocked...

I'm fairly certain getting levels in Intuition doesn't block this medal, so you could just speed-level to Int2 and just pull everything that's safe.

I've never really bothered to get Gambler's Shield because it's the kind of thing you could probably get pretty easily if you actually focused a run toward it.
