Super Soldier
Requires: Ironman (2)
When everything FUBARed, your squad could rely on you to keep on firing. You don't have a squad to fall back on anymore, but you do have these nifty little pills the army kept feeding you! The first level of this trait allows you use any med-packs instantly. The second extends your habit to all usable items.

Deathless
Requires: Super Soldier (1), Dodgemaster (1)
Blocks: Tough as nails, Brute, Son of a bitch
How many times do they have to kill you?! You're not sure yet, but you have a way of emerging from a hellstorm of bullets with nothing worse than surface wounds. With this trait, any turn that would have killed you from 1 HP or more instead leaves you alive with zero.
(NB Medial Armor obviously wouldn't work at that point.)

Alternatively ...

Deathseeker
Requires: Ironman (3), Intuition (1)
Blocks: Reloader, Finesse, Hellrunner
Your mates called you a thrill seeker. Your parents called you an adrenaline junkie. Your psychologist called you crazy. But in your dreams you can see the Reaper, and he is you. The trait reduces your movement, fire and reload times by 2% for every 3 HP you lose.

Deathless sounds better than Adrenaline Junkie, but I do have some points to make about it.

0) It'd be SNAFU'd for Super Soldier's description, not FUBAR'd.

1) Is that a single action or a single round of action for Deathless?

2) Why does Deathless block Brute and Son of a Bitch? It's already a master trait, and melee builds would really benefit from it if Brute wasn't blocked.

3) 0 HP or less is dead. 1 HP or more is alive.

4) Why does Deathseeker require Intuition?

5) Deathseeker Pistol build would be uberfast.

AFAIK, there is a slight problem with new traits in DRL, namely there is no place for them on the trait-list on level-up. And that means that is not really possible for implementing traits without scrapping some of the current ones.

Well, Juggler is kind of useless.

Not according to many really, really good players. For example, Simon-v.

AFAIK, impossible. Thing is hardcoded.

Possible, but would need some work. Also wouldn't be so simple in terms of presentation.

Could it perhaps be changed to a two or three column list along the bottom half of the screen, with the description at the top?

That would make it more orderly (IMO), quicker to scroll through, and allow room for more traits. You could even make each column for each trait category - basic on the left, advanced in the middle, master on the right.

Just not sure if there's quite enough room.

The 1 HP damage minimum is removed, allowing you to take zero damage from attacks / hazards. Additionally, any damage that would kill you instead reduces you to 1 HP. Further damage kills you, of course.

Raekuul: I'd imagine Deathless working for however long the player's last action took (otherwise you'd survive one arachnotron's barrage just to still be killed another's before you could react/heal anyway). It would block brute because it's thematically about those 'emerge unscathed from dust cloud' situations, not shrugging off a demon fist through your throat - and the others just for balance, I guess. Obviously, an exception for 0 HP could be coded or the trait changed to 1 HP / kicks in over 2 HP, but surviving on 0 HP sounds cooler. Deathseeker would require intuition because you're seeing the enemies clearly and deliberately charging into them.

Midnight: Juggler is awesome for general builds and you are a liar. D:

I'd say make Deathless work at 7 or more HP (10% or better at minimum requirements), while still reducing HP to one.

I actually like the idea of Diehard removing the damage minimum. The problem with it is that half of the time, the only reason the minimum is being hit is if you're wearing Red armor or better.

RE: Juggler - Juggler is a good trait to have if you're switching weapons a lot.

And Deathseeker Pistol build would still be uberfast ^^

This is a pretty good idea for a trait addition.

Although Im not so sure I would use it all that much as defensive power is usually an afterthough in my builds. I like to destroy those hell beings and quickly!

Personally, I'm a big fan of 'just won't die' builds in pretty much any game, and right now the closest DoomRL has to that is Fireangel, which I kind of like (except the name - is Fireproof so bad?) but never use over Army of The Dead.

Diehard would basically give you a lategame boost to your survivability, allowing you to shrug off minor damage totally and survive attacks that would normally be instant death, like a Mancubus volley (it probably should read 'any damage taken over the course of a single round that would kill you', so you could survive an unlucky volley of shots or being mangled in an ambush).

Of course, compared to stuff like ignoring armour and INFINITE AMMO, this may seem a little underpowered.

@Raekuul: yeah, that's true, and Plasma damage tends to rip you up whatever your armour is, thanks to its halving properties. Perhaps a secondary bonus would be that your armour (all or just TaN armour) isn't cut in half by plasma damage, making you far more hardy in the late game. I'd imagine the 'can take 0 damage' would just be manifested as totally ignoring 1 point of damage from any source.

If anything, removing minimum damage could be overpowered; with tough as nails any rapid fire enemy (ie. arachnotrons) would be utterly harmless, and berserk would effectively become invulnerability. A few more quick ideas, though ...

Cockroach
Requires: Ironman (2)
They say cockroaches could survive the Apocalypse, but you'll still be there to squash the sons of bitches underfoot. Each level of this trait grants you immunity to acid, lava, and thermonuclear explosions respectively.

Unstoppable
Requires: Ironman (3), Dodgemaster (1)
Blocks: Eagle Eye, Finesse
You're the Juggernaut, bitch! And demons better stay out of your way, because each time you run up to them you cause immediate melee damage and knock-back.
(NB Pushes enemies to the side first if possible, straight back otherwise. Only triggers when you weren't next to them before moving.)

Hulk
Requires: Ironman (3), Whizkid (1)
Blocks: Hellrunner, Son of a gun
You think that piddly little green armor is really enough to cover your overgrown ass? Hell no. Now you can wear two sets of armor at once, and the benefits stack!
(NB Each set still takes full damage when attacked, so you'll burn through your backups quickly unless you're careful.)
