Unique Weapons

I know it's undoomish, but we do have a few in-game already. (Spear, Adv RL, Adv Pistol (AoM Challenge))

And since we have these new traits, I think it gives us a lot of opportunity.

Examples:
The Texas Chainsaw
More damage than a standard chainsaw, faster attack speed (made of super-light, space-age materials)

Ebony & Ivory
Pair of unique pistols, faster attack speed, extra damage (but only when both are used in dualgunner)*

Plasteel Boots with cheap plastic wings
Reduces movement time, increases dodge chance (I think boots have been ignored so far, do they only protect from acid/lava?)

Boomstick
Unique combat shotgun, rediculous capacity, slower firing time

I can probably think of more, if anybody thinks this is a good idea.

*Is this even code-able?

One note - Adv RL and Adv Pistol are not unique

That is true.

But I needed some more items listed first to add to my claim. :)
I don't actually know if there are unique weapons other than the spear in the game.

Well, LS is unique, and it's supposed to be unique, like AA. I'd like to keep uniqeness to realy powerfull artifact rewards -- like it is now. That is NOT something met in a normal game. Anyway LS pays homage to another ID game ;].

But I'm open to discussion.

I wouldn't be against having "named" creatures and weapons in the normal game.  Wouldn't be all that unDoomish and it certainly would be a little more Roguelikeish.  I guess the question is would it change the normal gameplay and I think it wouldn't, really.  Might just make it a little more interesting!  The names have to be good, though.  I like "Ebony and Ivory."  I don't really like "Boomstick" as that's really just another slang term for shotgun.  I remember hearing about some cannon called "Baby Babylon" which I thought was pretty cool.  Maybe something like that!

The plasteel boots could be called "Icarus Boots" or "Icarus Feet."

But yeah, could be fun to walk into a chamber and see a named Baron named "Asmodeus," surrounded by two regular Barons (bodyguards) and some Hellknights. :)

Here are some demon names to look at!

Okay, point taken. Yet, my vision of Doom, goes more in the direction of Angels and Demons, than in the direction of biogenetics and comic-action. I realy love the names of the original doom levels, they inspire my imagination... If adding unique items I'd rather go for Early Christian/Jewish/Islamic Mythology, then pop-culture names, so the demon names are a yes, but the boomstick turns me off.

As for the demon names, I knew Amy had to be a demon :-P (inside joke).

"Boomstick" was reference to Evil Dead. It strikes me that the static marine we play as would, if he could talk, call his shotty a boomstick.

In other, unrelated news, I had a dream entirely in ASCII Saturday night. I blew up the Cyberdemon!

Sadly, in real-life, I died seven times on level 15. On easy. :(
