This one took a buttload of patience, but I finally did it! Destroyer Diamond! :D
Usually, in UV and N! games, I like to go for Ironman and TaN to prevent late-game instadeaths, so this badge has always seemed daunting to me. Not being able to get those traits required a complete change to my usual strategy. Taking advantage of Intuition level 2, I painstakingly watched every step, making sure never to accidentally bring any unknown creatures into view in case they were mancubi or similar "instant game over" creatures.
I also had an opportunity to get Longinus Diamond, but I screwed it up. :( Just before Unholy Cathedral, there was a shockwave pack and an invulnerability sphere, and I had 6 large med-packs. Along with my bulk-modded chainsaw, it probably could have been enough to defeat the AoD, but unfortunately, I got the "brilliant" idea of using a phase device to bring me closer to him so I could spend more of my time fighting him while invulnerable. Of course, phase devices are always a gamble and in this case, I lost. The phase device took me further away from him, rather than closer and I had to waste precious invulnerability time running around the cathedral. As it was, the invulnerability ran out just before I got to him, so if I hadn't bothered with the phase device, I would have had plenty of time to kill him while invulnerable. Oh well...
