[VIDEO] DoomRL Tutorials (pre 0.9.9.6)
Game Hunter:
Welcome to my series of DoomRL videos in which I explain many, many, many things. Despite being a simple game, DoomRL has a vast collection of small details: all of them are important and just by knowing them you can improve your game. However, I understand well that it takes forever to get good at this game, which is why I'm not going to just explain things, I will do them myself. In these tutorial videos, I'll be playing the game in a number of ways for the sake of everyone learning what I do right and what I do wrong.
I will TRY to post about once a week. Given the way this first video came out, they will probably be long videos, so at least it's a good amount of content for being at that rate. We'll see how things go.
This is the OP so it's mostly an index. Whenever I post a new video, it'll be here instead of in the latest post. If, on the other hand, you have questions/comments/etc., definitely post here and I will reply to the best of my ability.
For those of you planning to watch the whole thing, I've created a playlist. If you're just looking for a specific level, see the (spoiler'd) index below:

Kudos to Game Hunter for sharing his DoomRL wisdom with the rest of us.
That said, folks who have questions/comments on particular parts of the tutorials should state the referenced tutorial number/video part in the post in this thread so that everyone can see where the question is coming from.
AStranger:
Nice, it looks like you got the game sound and voice to co-exist. Bravo on the thorough explanation, even though I know all that stuff I don't think I'd be able to even do half the job you've done conveying it.
The only constructive criticism I can come up with is I don't recall whether or not you went over always coming at the stairs from the north, due to the shotgun angle issues, but I did notice you never came at the stairs from the south. Granted I'm a very negative person, so the fact this is the only thing I can come up is actually a pretty solid endorsement from me. Aren't I pleasant? :)

It figures that I forgot to mention it in this recording. I had to re-record a few times on account of vocal flubs, mis-recording, and some other complications. Annotations have been added at 8:54 in the first video in order to mention it, although for the purposes of this video it's not QUITE important enough to go into detail. When I hit up Hell's Arena, there will be more than enough corner-shooting to go around for the details to become significant. Thanks for the catch, though, I doubt I would have noticed it.

Not bad man.
I really just hate the concept of gift dropping on principle, but seeing it in action forces me to grudgingly accept its utility.
