First post, and thanks for a great game!

I was trying a Max Carnage Ultraviolence run with a Marine, when I noticed I wasn't getting certain sounds. Monsters were completely silent, and reloading, pickup and weapon swap did not produce any sound. I could hear my own shots and the game music, though.

I kept playing until Hell Arena, when I noticed I was getting sounds working properly again when I was using a shotgun. I realized the sound issues only took place when I was wielding the chaingun I had taken from a random former captain; what's more, only this particular chaingun caused them, as the one found in the Arena had all SFX working properly.

I saved the game after completing the Arena. I still have the silent chaingun, and I copied the full directory to a safe location (I'm not sure what the save game files are) What should I do?

In the DoomRL directory that you backed up, there should be files called "save" (no extension) and "sound.lua". Please attach these files to your reply.

Also, did you toggle sound using the '(' key at all during the game?

I tried toggling sound with ( once I realized something was off with the SFX.
