35 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
 33 of those were killed.
And 1 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.

 1 souls destroyed the Cyberdemon...
1 sacrificed itself for the good of mankind.

--------------------------------------------------------------
After playing on HMP and dying once too often, I decided to go for something simple -- MVm run with only fists.  And then the RNG kept tempting me to do a pistol run, first with the offering of the GCB, then the Anti-Freak Jackal.  Ended up in HoC, and charged through before realising that... I didn't have any way of opening the doors.  Went back to kill some sarges and pry the shotgun from their dead cold fingers to blast holes in the doors, only to realise I forgot to pick up the ammo...

Soon, I amassed enough Homing Phase Devices to just slip past the last 3 to 4 levels before nuking Cybie.  First win in a while, on ITYTD too, but hey, a win is a win.

;-)

PS: I would like to note that this is also the first and only ITYTD game I've played on 0.9.9.4 so far.  O.O

You could've made them shoot at you willingfully, while making sure they hit the doors.

It's kinda painful to get the second row of them open, though.
Now that I think of it, STAY THE HELL AWAY from HoC in Angel of Pacifism.

HoC is pretty easy on AoPc N!... Just wait for them to break the doors for you.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

edit: that spoiler expanded correctly in the preview and for the first time after posting. After that it expands in only two lines. Chrome 14.
And yes, breaking doors in HoC isn't easy on E, M and H difficulties...

Oops!  I didn't see that you wrote "N!"  How about "M" instead?  :D  (I trust you won't mind if I post the mortem in your thread)  ;)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Wow!  AoPc is so much easier when you can get Hellrunner!  :P  And yes, HoC did pose a problem.  I got cornered by Cacodemons while trying to get to the exit and had to phase away from them.  Ultimately, I ended up waiting until the lava caught up with me and broke the walls down.  My boots got destroyed and I lost all my med-packs, but I made it, and I even picked up the BFG before exiting!  :)

HoC is doable on AoPc if you go Technician and can grab Cerberus boots :D

Make that a Diamond badge and somebody will find a way to do it.

Originally I wanted to say that, but it sounded too... impossible, even for me.

Sounds great, well, except that you can't beat Hell's Armory.
Because you'd have to nuke the shambler, not to mention somehow infight-killing everything before that.

I'm not sure what would be harder, Hell's Arena, or killing the Arena Master in the Chained Court!  :o  After that, you just have to hope you find a Trigun and have invulnerabilities for each of the generated levels.  I think nuking the Armory would take the Shambler with it, but you would definitely have to nuke the Lava Pits twice, since the Lava Elemental doesn't appear until everything else is dead.

But I thought that nuking special levels (except for The Wall) does not count for level completion. Am I wrong?

Getting the level to be counted as "done" (for, say, the purposes of a Conqueror run) includes nuking the level. For certain badges, when they ask the level be "completed", this always discounts nuking; for badges that ask the level be "cleared", nuking is allowed.

To my knowledge, the shambler isn't "in" the level until you pull the lever, so you'd either need a lot of extra invulernability (to get to it) or a lucky phase.

Really though, that sounds just about impossible to do without nuking, even if you were invulnerable for an infinite amount of time. Having enemies kill each other through indirect infighting and splash damage isn't TOO bad, but the trick to get the last two enemies in such a position that they kill each other can be very difficult. With Nightmare! I suppose you're given as many tries as you need (unless something accidentally destroys the corpse) so...over the course of a few days you might pull it off. And naturally you'd have to hope that none of the regular levels screwed you in the process, which is the hard part of AoPc in the first place.

Yeah, I'd write this off as impossible.

I see. I was confused a lot... ^_^
