How about doors that close themselves after a few seconds. Most if not all doors in the original doom were automatic. Why not add this feature to DoomRL. Especially with the authentic original sounds.

It could only apply to certain map types like City or Room. These doors could also be harder to destroy than normal doors. (Also possibly a new level event where every door on the map is replaced with self-closing indestructable doors)

What do you think?

They could also gib any poor monster (or Doomguy) left there when they close. Just think of the strategic possibilities (and YASD:s)!

In original Doom, the auto-doors will open itself up if it detects there's someone in between, I think, so no free gibbing.

They could at least destroy corpses.

a corpse in a doorway is already destroyed, which is very useful for AoD :)

While it wouldn't give much strategic advantage except for saving a little time, I think it'd be pretty cool* to have. Perhaps they should look like +.
