First run with the new version and I gotta say it's a bit of a change.

Is the combat shotgun so over powered that you needed to push it all the way into hell itself? My first one was IN the vaults... Come to think of it I didn't see steel boots till lvl 13, I guess it's one way to balance the assemblies.

Ran out of shells at the wall, the new AI appears to make the barons keep their distance till they see you (don't quote me on that)

Fixing the walls of the hellgate and city of skulls was a bit of a suprise but long overdue.

Got ammochain just before the armory and the firestorm pack for killing the shambler. The plasma rifle was a few floors later and that was about it, almost nothing can stand up to that gun chainfireing.

Cyberdemon was FAR harder than ever before, just how much was added to his sight range +3 or is it +4? I only saw him once and had to blind fire ALOT of plasma to kill him. I would rather fight the baron hacking version of JC, I wouldn't need quite as many med kits.

I had 3 inv globes near the stairs to UC but I left my chainsaw back on phobos.

The mortuary was a cakewalk, phase kit droped me next to 3 of the viles, BFG'd 2 before they could even act, rifled the other and walked right.

Two env suits and less than a stack of plasma later I had the lava element.

Very nice touch with Dis, I always wondered why Cyberdemon's level didn't have the traditional enterence but I guess the spider stole it.

JC was easy but the Cacodemons are an improvement to the lost souls and he did have a new trick this time.

In general it's a great release but i thought it was going to be longer not shorter...

In general it's a great release but i thought it was going to be longer not shorter...

The general sentiment is that DoomRL broke away from it's coffee-break feel and a lot folks didn't like that
In fact, there was an Internet Radio interview stating that a few months back. The result was this shift.

Now there is a lot mroe going on in a slightly shorter package - I personally love the pace!
