Well well. Cateye is definitely _the_ build for AoMC. I was heavily inspired by byrel's build for this one, and it definitely ruled this run. Returning the credit, byrel! :)

The start was pretty much what one would expect. I rarely had any trouble until the Anomaly, and as always, I was more worried about the initial monster than about the bruisers. I used my standard strategy - tactical armor and running back to the left room, I still caught one or two, but not much of a threat.

City of Skulls were more dangerous. I already got rid of shotguns to leave more room for my chaingun and plasma, and the initial wave was quite a pain in the ass. I couldn't kill them quick enough not to take some damage, and in the end I even blew the skulls with an unlucky rocket.

With Dodgemaster and a proper dodge/fire/reload timing, Cybie was an absolute pushover. He spawned some four squares away from me, so at first I had to run away from the walls, but after that, piece of cake.

One lucky and LOL moment came somewhere in early Hell, when I spawned between two commando/sergeant packs and two Barons to boot. Would have been pretty bad - if I hadn't picked that invulnerability before entering. In order to save ammo, I was just dodging between their shots, and man, it was joy to behold them massacring each other :). When the invulnerability expired, only one of the Barons and one arach who wandered by were still standing.

Soon afterwards I found my second power mod for the plasma rifle, which definitely turned the odds on my side. Since that time, everything except the Lava Elemental and Mastermind fell in a single volley ...
... well, until I made the bad mistake of adding another power mod. The knockback it caused in fact caused a lot of shots to miss, and it did cost me quite a lot of precious ammo. (Bottom line: two power mods on a plasma rifle are exactly the right amount on AoMC).

Vaults were a huge disappointment. They were extremely easy with the "one volley = one kill", but they didn't yield a single exotic or unique ... Oh well, at least there was a real truckload of plasma cells.

And Spidey? I don't think she ever saw me, as she didn't fire a single shot.

All in all, a fun and nice run. First ever UV win, quadruple gold (although I had Scavenger Gold before, so it's not in the mortem), Untouchable Badge, Cybie, next four levels in row and Mastermind without being hit once - I guess that again I learned a lot about the game.And I'm going to be very sleepy at work today - I finished this run after three AM :).

One more thing to ask: Any tips on clearing the Anomaly without taking damage? Invulnerability is out, as I tend to do the Wall just before. Otherwise, I only see a lot of luck needed (tactical armor _and_ boots = 4 agility mods, gravity boots are even more improbable, or perhaps a very lucky phase into the left room ...)
Gatekeeper Diamond would be a nice cherry on top of the cake that was this run.

I try to phase in the Anomaly once the first walls go down. So far I've always landed behind either of the doors and from there it's easy to clear the first room without a scratch. One of the Bruiser Brothers always tags me when cornershooting, though. I guess cateye is the way to go.

Sounds like a plan worth attempting - guess I'm not going to sleep much tonight as well :).

And just to boast a bit - shortly before this win I snagged a AoSg, and just now I got AoB as well with both Longinus Spear and the Angelic Armor - and all of this within 24 hours. I'm getting on a roll, I daresay :).

Gratz! I actually managed to clear the Mortuary without nuking it for the first time yesterday with a melee build on Angel of Overconfidence and the Angelic Attire is really sweet. Also, clearing the Mortuary with melee is extremely satisfying. When I used my last medkit, I thought that if I die, it will still be worth it. Knee deep in the dead indeed.
