Hackmaster 4e IC - Quest for the Unknown
Matt_S:
A look of curiosity crosses Sam's face momentarily. "Mysterious writing and a large wooden door... But a door in a cave? I'll check this out." Sam approaches the door carefully... But then his attention is drawn to the mat. "First... I have to check something." His attention focused on the mat, Sam goes to lift the mat.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)Before I move on to searching the door for any traps, I'll see what's under this mat, if anything.
Malek Deneith:
Picking up the mat carefully Sam sees a piece of metal lying on the ground. Upon closer examination it turns out to be a brass key.
Matt_S:
Sam grabs the key and puts the mat back in its place. "Aha! Now, to see if the door's safe..." He again focuses on the door, and checks it for traps.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)I'll check for traps first, and if it's safe, check to make sure the door is actually locked, then try to unlock it with the key.
Malek Deneith:
As Sam steps on the mat to check the door a trap door he didn't notice opens below him...
No, no, wait, that's not how it happened.
The thief gets to work and luckily for him there are no trap doors to fall in. He also doesn't find any traps on the door, though he noticed that bits of the wood chipped of the frame, suggesting it was forced open before. Currently though it is locked again, but not for long - the key found fits and easily opens the door. Beyond it you can see a corridor extending into the darkness, a bit inwards you can barely make out outline of a pair of alcoves - one on each side - but farther than that it's too dark for you to see.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)I'd like to appologize - when I wrote the original post about the door I was in a rush and forgot to check the map. The door is actually a bit further into the corridor than I imagined basing just on the description alone, and thus I'm going to need Jace to make a saving throw vs paralyzation. As a reminder - if Jace stays here he won't be given a split of any e.p. the party might gather from encounter inside. Though he might get encounter of his own hyuck, hyuck, hyuck.
Also if you decide to venture further onwards I am going to need a marching order - the corridor is two mean wide as a reminder. You can organize that via the OOC thread if you need to. Or play it out IC, your choice.
shark20061:
Sho Lee moves up toward the rest of the group. Just because he's focused on himself doesn't mean he won't follow the rest of the group.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)Middle or Back row. Whichever side is open. Preferably the right.
