Fairly self-explanatory report; I took the Fireangel trait on my most recent run in 0.9.9.6, and still took what seemed like full damage from nearby explosions.  Firing a rocket launcher at a wall several squares away damaged me, as did taking indirect hits from enemy explosives.

I just died via this as well, although lava finished me off, the rev's rocked at the very least knocked me into it.

This bug has been found and fixed in the repo. For the time being, don't bother taking the Fireangel trait.

I also took the liberty of making it so that Fireangel still lets you get knocked back from an explosion, even though you take no damage from it. It'll be something to test during beta.

Thanks!  Though I wonder if that'll make rocket jumping with Fireangel completely ridiculous...

a nice twist to Fireangel to get knocked by explosions. After all, being immune to damage does not prevent you being immune to be forced to move. And yes, finally it'll be a rocketjump-friendly mode... I wish to be able to jump better.

Honestly, given how little the rocket-jump is actually used, I really don't mind adding some conditional incentives.

For those of you unfamiliar with rocket-jumping, it deals half damage but each point of damage contributes to a tile of knockback. So with a full-damage unmodified rocket launcher, you'll be launched a whopping 18 tiles. Sometimes it's not as far as you were expecting, and sometimes it's farther than that.

for me it looks like it's the best thing to do in Phobos Anomaly, provided you have no phase device to face BBs first and have the ambush released. They come out, you rocketjump backward and run to safety, and shoot em away with a shotty or whatever available.

Rocket jumping is useful on many-rooms levels with lava rivers.

...though if you have a rocket launcher, you can unblock the bridge most of the time.

The one time that I found rocket launcher useful was when I was tackling CC+, ran out 'zerked with Chainsaw towards the Arena Master only to find that within 3 tiles of him, my 'zerk ran out.  Couldn't run back fast enough, so I used a large medpack, then rocket jumped away from the Arena Master to grab more 'zerk.  It worked well.  =)

Clever thinking - thanks for the tip! :)

Why not to take all berserk packs just after entering The Chained Court?
