[0.9.9.6] Music doesn't loop properly
« on: February 28, 2012, 15:46 »

Current locations:
Phobos lvl4 standard game, the music plays a lead out before looping with the same part it lead out with, about 1.5 seconds needs to be cut from the end
Hell lvl5 standard game, ~same amount from the end

This is not a bug of DoomRL per se. Sonic Clang's tracks end with a start of a new loop fading into silence, so when the  track starts for the second time, it sounds like the start of the track was played twice. Cutting the end of the tracks is certainly a solution.

Haven't the DRL tracks always had this problem? Maybe it's just me but, if I wanted to get the tracks to loop properly, I had to edit them myself. DoomRL itself has no problem looping tracks, but if the tracks themselves don't loop well...

I can certainly invest some time in making loopable tracks, at least where it's appropriate for the existing music.

Reencoding the MP3's is out of the question. AFAIR Simon-v has his OGG versions looping properly, as for the Sonic Clang MP3's the only way is either to programatically loop them better (fading) which isn't easy, or manually cutting out MP3 frames from the file (I did file recovery software in the days, I think I could do that).
