That was some run. My strategy was to obtain the nuclear plasma rifle from the spider's lair, thereby clearing up most of my inventory spots for non-ammunition.

The early game was a breeze. I built up slowly to a rapid fire build with the occasional nicety such as finesse. My approach here was to use both a chaingun and a shotgun, scavenging whatever ammo was available each level. This worked well, since a lot of times a level will be heavy on one ammo type or the other, allowing you to burn whichever has excess. My basic inventory setup was two slots for primary ammo, one for backup ammo, one med-pack, and one phase.

Things got a bit rough when I entered the spider's lair. I (fortunately!) ditched the phase for another med-pack before I went in. Got some bad luck getting double-teamed and had to burn through both of them early. Then I played really conservatively and somehow managed to pull out a victory with — get this — 2 shells and 2 bullets left. My reward was the nuclear plasma rifle!

A couple levels later, however, tragedy once again struck with the cyberdemon..

My strategy was going really well, keeping out of his range with my excellent speed and using cateye to get potshots off on him, but eventually, I had to 'turn around' so I could keep kiting him. I learned the hard way that there is no surefire way to do this; the pillars usually don't last long enough to do it with impunity. At this point, I had no med-packs and could only take 2 rockets to the face. A third one would kill me. Wouldn't you know, I did take those 2 rockets to the face. Fortunately, I took no more, and he went down while I had 8% hp.

Fortunately, there weren't any enemies in sight of where I spawned on the next level! And there was an invulnerability nearby! From this point on, I kept improving my build, and I found the mod that adds 2 extra shots to a rapid fire weapon. That was pretty cool.

With the 20% speed boost from AoLT, my tac boots/armor, scout class, and a point in hell runner, I had a ridiculous 0.46 movement speed. I could perpetually corner shoot the mastermind with impunity with no threat of retaliation, so that was rad. :)

Lol, cybie is so easy.
Just keep strafing around him, this way you will easily dodge incoming rockets. Don't forget to keep away from pillars(splash damage) and keep distance, too. After he fires, blast him until he will reload. Then continue sidestrafing until he fires, blast him, and repeat until it's dead. If you don't mess up with the walls, easy win with no hp loss.
This is ecpesially effective since you don't have to reload.
