The early game had its usual frustrations - the occasional point-blank shotgun blast too weak to fully kill some tiny trash thing and melee being gimped until Chained Court. By the time the chainsaw was in my hands, things naturally got easier. I was almost worried about being unable to corner-shoot the Arena Master... then I remembered I was playing a melee game.

The Wall was super-interesting, and afterwards I wasn't quite sure why I did it. Shotguns always attract more heat than I tend to be able to handle, and using the chainsaw tended to cut it closer than I liked. Then, towards the end, zerk procced, gg. From that point on, I figured I'd stick to the missile launcher, switching to melee for sticky spots, like whenever I've been hit hard enough to zerk, at least until I picked Juggler and it stopped mattering.

Hell's Armory was a good little Hell's Armory and dropped a nano pack once I used my shiny new piercing chainsaw to clear it. On the next floor... a second nano pack dropped. There are oodles of assembly options with just WK(1), and I could have gone the full route after MVm, made something extra-shiny.

I put it on my missile launcher instead. So, by that point, it was 'don't need armor shards anyway', 'don't really need health orbs anyway', and most importantly, 'don't need any ammo, ever'. I could literally shoot the missile launcher whenever I wanted without caring about the consequences.

The game quickly realized its mistake. The Vaults spawned full of Barons (naturally) who grabbed all the armor in sight (of course) including one energy shield (ugh) and... one plasma shield. I'm not sure why I didn't switch back to the chainsaw when the first ten zerked spear strikes didn't kill the latter; maybe to see just how many it would take (the plasma shield wound up at 23%, if anyone wants to have fun trying to calculate it).

The Mortuary was probably the hardest I have ever won. The initial skull didn't hit anything, and neither did BFG shots to the left and to the right. Every single arch-vile was at the very edge of the map. The struggle was truly epic, in the end burning six large med-packs for a nuclear BFG in return. (I still have skulls in my backpack because I'm an idiot.)

After that mess, the rest of the game was refreshingly easy.

Named Guts because I had hoped to find and try to wield the Dragonslayer, just like every other melee game I've played recently.

Hell yeah. I've made a nano missile launcher twice now in my AoHu runs (why is RNG even putting the health and armour pickups there?) and it's become my favourite weapon. The last one ended up being N1P1B2.

Melee and rocket build, never saw that before.  I've done melee and shotgun and that's worked for me before though
