Nuke?

What are the thermonuclear bombs good for? First time I actually tried one was when losing against the cyberdaemon who unfortunately killed me before it went off.
The other time was when I found like 3 or so in a single game and tried to see if I could run from it... (which didn't work)

Are they for activating and leaving behind to clear levels you want to skip? That would make sense. Otherwise they're not much good are they?

Well you can do a YASDVP by using a thermonuclear bomb when you and the cyberdemon are on low health. This is not recommended if you have a plasma rifle that could take him out WITHOUT the death of you.

The bomb still goes off after you are dead, so it should still kill him, at least that is what happens for me.  Last time this happened I was dead with 7 turns of the bomb to go, and I nuked the sob.

It has also been mentioned that there are at least two other ways to use the bomb...

One I can think of would be using it when under the effect of an invulnerability globe, although I've never tried it.
